Many of us have felt that sense of dread that accompanies getting you phone wet. Be it a spilled drink, a mad dash through the rain to your car, or the dreaded toilet drop, those anxious few moment when you pick up the device to see if it’s still working can be agony. If the worst has come to pass and you device is not on, the conventional wisdom is to put the device in a bag of rice and let it sit overnight. This methods effectiveness can vary depending on the type of device you have. With manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Sony it can be pretty effective because you can remove the back and battery of your device, giving the rice a better chance to work its magic. Phones by companies like Apple and HTC can be less effective because they have a tendency to be sealed thereby making it harder for the rice to remove the moisture. The biggest drawback is getting rice stuck in your ports.
